We are in the process of developing and implementing a new Lab Information System called NIS (NanoLabNL Information System). The system enables our lab users to manage and optimize the available resources in all our facilities and laboratories. With NIS we are introducing a powerful tool that enables our users to effectively utilize all the techniques and equipment available at NanoLabNL, regardless of the location of the facilities.
Staged rollout
NIS is a new Information System to support all the consortium partners based on the experiences from the MESA+ Information system and Living DataBase from Phoenix. We are rolling out the new system in stages. Our nanolab in Groningen (Zernike) connected to the system at the end of January and AMOLF Nanolab will follow in a few weeks. This is followed by our laboratories in Delft (TNO, Kavli and Else Kooi) and Eindhoven (TU/e) and finally MESA+ NanoLab.
Full service system
NIS will at least comprise 20 modules. The first 10 modules are ready and enable basic functions such as providing information on lab equipment, showing its availability, making reservations and more advanced functions like fair use policy of equipment and project management. It will also be used to inform lab users. Extra modules will be incorporated gradually including process flow design and batch following system.
