We are in the process of implementing a new Lab Information System called NiS (NanoLabNL Information System). The system enables our lab users to manage and optimise the available resources in all our facilities and laboratories. With NiS we are introducing a powerful tool that enables our users to effectively utilize all the techniques and equipment available at NanoLabNL, regardless of the location of the facilities.
NiS is based on the MESA+ Information System and has been modified and upgraded to support all the consortium partners. We are rolling out the new system in stages. Our nanolab in Groningen (Zernike) connected to the system at the end of January and AMOLF Nanolab was the latest to join in February. Our laboratories in Delft (TNO, Kavli and Else Kooi) and Eindhoven (TU/e) will follow shortly. We expect all our nanolabs to be connected to NiS at the end of june 2021.
Full service system
NiS will eventually comprise 16 modules. The first 9 modules are ready and enable basic functions such as providing information on lab equipment, showing availability and making reservations. It will also be used to inform lab users on Extra modules will be incorporated gradually eventually enabling complex lab flow designs.
